Barcelona confident in Nico Williams deal

The saga surrounding Nico Williams’ potential move to Barcelona remains a hot topic as the Catalan giants struggle to navigate the financial complexities of sealing the deal. Despite being the favourites, Barcelona’s financial woes, particularly following setbacks like the Libero deal, have cast doubt on their ability to secure the Athletic Club winger.

PSG attempted to swoop in, but Williams reportedly declined their advances, keeping the Catalan giants are in pole position. The winger’s absence from Athletic Club training has fuelled speculation about his imminent departure, though Fabrizio Romano notes that Williams has not yet made a final decision.

Amidst this uncertainty, Chelsea are monitoring the situation closely, viewing Williams as a top priority to bolster their attack. They have previously made a personal terms offer but have yet to advance further. Similarly, Aston Villa, under Unai Emery, are prepared to make a late window move if Barcelona fails to finalise the transfer.

As the transfer window progresses into August, Barcelona remains hopeful of closing the deal before facing Athletic Club on Match-day 2. Deco’s efforts continue, but with each passing day, the pressure mounts on Joan Laporta and the Barcelona board to find a financial solution to bring Nico Williams to Camp Nou.
