Leicester City leading the race to sign Matt O’Riley

Leicester City are reportedly leading the race to sign Celtic’s Matt O’Riley, amid interest from Everton. According to TEAMtalk, the Foxes view O’Riley as an ideal replacement for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who is set to join Chelsea for £30 million.

O’Riley, a Danish international, has been a standout performer for Celtic since joining from MK Dons in January 2022 for just £1.5 million. Last season, the 23-year-old played a crucial role in Celtic’s league and cup double, contributing 19 goals and 18 assists in 49 appearances. Despite his impressive form, he narrowly missed out on Denmark’s squad for UEFA Euro 2024.

While there is interest from clubs across Europe, O’Riley is reportedly keen on a Premier League move. Everton are one of the clubs vying for his signature, as they seek to revamp their squad after recent struggles.

Leicester City, having secured an immediate return to the Premier League, are determined to bolster their squad to ensure top-flight stability.

O’Riley’s potential move to the Foxes could surpass the current record for the Scottish Premiership’s most expensive departure, which stands at £25 million. Celtic are expected to demand more for their midfield star, making this a transfer saga to watch closely.
