Newcastle United have identified West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen as a potential transfer target for the summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe’s side are currently striving to secure a spot in the Champions League for next season, and their chances have improved in recent weeks due to a return to form.
The Magpies have won their last four matches, including victories against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, and West Ham United. However, Newcastle’s goal tally for the season is currently only the sixth-best in the top flight, with a total of 46 goals scored, which is not particularly impressive.
Howe has had to manage the fitness of his attacking players, with Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson, and Alexander Isak all having spent time out of the team at certain stages. While the addition of Anthony Gordon in January has boosted his options, Howe is reportedly still searching for further offensive signings in the market later in 2023.
According to talkSPORT, Newcastle United may be willing to make a significant offer for Bowen’s services ahead of the 2023-24 season.
The England international has been a crucial player for the Hammers since his arrival in January 2020, having scored 37 goals and registered 27 assists in 143 appearances across all competitions.
West Ham United are in a strong position when it comes to the 26-year-old winger’s future, as the player has a contract with the East London club until 2025.
However, Bowen is likely to consider renewing his contract only if West Ham remains in the Premier League and qualifies for European competition. To achieve the latter, the club must win the Europa Conference League this season.
