Report – Barcelona want Memphis Depay for £4.5m

Barcelona are lining up a swoop for Lyon attacker Memphis Depay for £4.5m during the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Camp Nou over the summer, but a move did not materialise with the Dutchman still in France.

Memphis, who is contracted to Lyon until next June, though, and the attacker is not expected to sign fresh terms at Groupama Stadium.

The Catalan giants cannot afford to spend heavily during the January transfer window due to the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, but according to L’Equipe, the Netherlands international could join the Blaugrana for as little as £4.5m.

The report goes on to claim that Les Gones are reluctant to lose Depay on a free transfer, therefore they are open to a mid-season move.

Memphis has been in sensational form at club level during the current season, contributing seven goals and four assists in 15 top flight appearances.
