Atletico Madrid want to sign Man United out-of-favour Nemanja Matic

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic is reportedly the subject of interest from the La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid.

The 31-year-old has only appeared thrice in the Premier League this season since the start of October. He has made 94 appearances for the Red Devils since arriving from Chelsea in July 2017.

As it stands, the Serbian’s contract at Old Trafford will expire at the end of the campaign, although the Premier League giants do have the option of triggering a further 12 months contract.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Los Rojiblancos are chasing the veteran midfielder’s signature ahead of the January transfer window.

The Spanish club could attempt to agree on a cut-price fee with Man United next month, although they would be free to discuss terms over a free transfer at the end of the 2019-20 season.

Matic has also been linked with a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan.
