Barcelona are reportedly back in the hunt for Brazilian right-back Yan Couto, as they look to reinforce their defence ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
According to Fichajes, the 22-year-old is high on the wishlist at Camp Nou. With Jules Kounde currently deputising at right-back despite being a natural centre-half, Barca are actively scouting specialist options—and Couto’s name is back in the mix.
Struggles in Dortmund, But Talent Undeniable
Couto joined Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester City last summer, with a permanent €25 million deal set to kick in after the 2024/25 season. However, things haven’t gone quite as planned for the Brazilian.
Despite his electric rise at Girona, the youngster has found consistent minutes hard to come by in Germany. With just one assist and fewer than 1,000 minutes across 26 appearances, Couto’s time at Signal Iduna Park has been underwhelming.
Return to La Liga in Sight?
Barcelona had previously tried to bring Couto in, only for the deal to fall through. Now, with Deco prioritising a natural right-back this summer, the door might open once again for Couto to return to Spain.
The Brazilian has reportedly signalled openness to a move amid his Dortmund frustrations. With Barca keeping close tabs and other European giants lurking, this could be one of the more intriguing full-back sagas of the summer window.
