Micky van de Ven on Liverpool radar?

Liverpool are reportedly considering Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky van de Ven as a potential successor to Virgil van Dijk, according to Football Insider. The 23-year-old Dutch defender has impressed in his debut Premier League season, but signing him could prove challenging.

Liverpool Preparing for a Defensive Overhaul

With Van Dijk’s future uncertain amid interest from Barcelona and other top European clubs, Liverpool are actively searching for defensive reinforcements. They have been linked with names like Dean Huijsen and Marc Guehi, but Van de Ven has now emerged as a key target.

However, signing the Spurs defender will not be easy. Daniel Levy, Tottenham’s chairman, is known for being a tough negotiator, meaning Liverpool would likely need to pay a premium for the Dutchman. Additionally, Van de Ven’s injury record, particularly his hamstring issues, could be a concern for the Reds.

Alternative Options for Liverpool

Liverpool are also keeping an eye on Marc Guehi, but his high price tag and competition from other clubs could make the move difficult. Jarrad Branthwaite seems out of reach as Everton are determined to keep him.

Despite the complications, Van de Ven fits the profile of a Van Dijk successor—a quick, composed, ball-playing defender. If Liverpool can navigate the financial and injury concerns, this could be one of the biggest defensive transfers of the summer.
