Tottenham set to revive interest in Ko Itakura

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering reigniting their interest in Borussia Monchengladbach defender Ko Itakura.

Ange Postecoglou’s side has lacked defensive stability, and with only three recognised central defenders currently available—one of whom is injured—the need for reinforcements is urgent.

Itakura, with his physicality, technical skills, and peak-age experience, could offer depth alongside Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Itakura’s relatively affordable price tag makes him an attractive option, especially given his proven pedigree in the Bundesliga. For the Japanese international, a switch to the Premier League represents an exciting opportunity to test himself at a higher level. Negotiations with Monchengladbach will be key, but the move seems achievable given Tottenham’s appeal.

A strong second half of the season, bolstered by the right January signings, is crucial for Spurs to secure European football and maintain their competitive edge. The 27-year-old might just be the piece Tottenham needs to strengthen their backline and revive their campaign.
