Liverpool keen on Odilon Kossounou

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Odilon Kossounou from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Sun reports that the Reds are keeping an eye on Kossounou after his failed attempt to join West Ham United earlier this summer, where a Premier League move fell through.

The Ivorian defender could provide a valuable long-term addition to Liverpool’s squad. The club are in need of defensive reinforcements, particularly with Joe Gomez and Joel Matip facing performance challenges. Currently, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk are the club’s only dependable defenders.

The 22-year-old is reportedly eager to make the move to Liverpool, recognising the club’s stature in world football. It remains to be seen if Liverpool can negotiate a deal with Bayer Leverkusen.

In addition to securing a central defender like Kossounou, Liverpool should also consider signing a versatile full-back to provide quality backup for Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold. The club may need to address potential departures, such as Matip, in the future.

Kossounou possesses the attributes to adapt to English football and would be a valuable asset for the Merseyside giants. Furthermore, West Ham’s interest in him in the future could make the transfer saga intriguing.
