Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly stepped up their interest in Leicester City star James Maddison who is on the radar of Newcastle United.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to move away from the King Power Stadium in the summer.
He began his career at Coventry before moving to Norwich, where he spent several successful years and gained recognition for his skills.
The England international has made 196 appearances since joining Leicester City in 2018.
Maddison’s contract with the Foxes expires in the summer of 2024. However, with just over a year left on his deal, the east Midlands outfit are reportedly willing to listen to offers in the summer transfer window. They are said to be willing to accept a bid of around £50 million to avoid losing him on a free transfer in a year’s time.
Tottenham are keen to bolster their squad with a new attacking midfielder, which has been a priority for the club for some time.
The Magpies are also interested in signing Maddison, as they look to push for the league title next season. It remains to be seen who will win the race for Maddison’s signature, as Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are both expected to push hard to secure the Englishman.
