Aston Villa interested in Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson
Aston Villa have reportedly “explored” the possibility of signing Villarreal winger Nicolas Jackson during the January transfer window.
Villa currently sitting just one point above the relegation zone and the club’s head coach Unai Emery is likely to have been promised funds for the mid-season transfer window in a bid to move the Midlands outfit away from the bottom three in the Premier League table.
According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa have emerged as a potential suitor to sign Jackson at the midway point of the campaign.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has made 11 starts and 18 substitute outings for the Yellow Submarine in all competitions.
Although the youngster has not completed 90 minutes since the opening weekend of the campaign, the Senegal international is an increasingly influential member of the squad.
Jackson has less than a year left on his contract at the Spanish outfit.
The report outlines that Barcelona, Newcastle United and Everton are also keeping close tabs on the youngster’s situation.
