Tottenham Hotspur have almost reached an agreement with Middlesbrough to sign Djed Spence.
Spurs initially struggled to reach an agreement for the transfer of the 21-year-old defender, who is said to be valued at £20m by the Championship outfit.
Arsenal were also credited with an interest in the youngster, who scored three goals and registered five assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for Nottingham Forest.
According to The Athletic, the North London outfit have now made a breakthrough in negotiations with Middlesbrough, and a move is imminent.
The report goes on to claim that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has maintained a strong relationship with Boro chairman Steve Gibson and Spence’s agent Scott Smith, which has been a very tong signal in getting a deal done.
The England Under-21s international joined Middlesbrough from Fulham’s academy in 2018 and prepares to leave the club after scoring twice in 70 appearances across all tournaments.
If the deal goes through, Spence would be Antonio Conte’s sixth signing this summer, following the arrival of Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Clement Lenglet, Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster to North London.
