Tottenham Hotspur weighing up £25m bid for Joao Palhinha

Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a swoop for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Spurs strengthened their hopes of Champions League football by beating Arsenal by a 3-0 scoreline earlier this week, closing the gap on the fourth-placed Arsenal to just one point with two games in hand.

It is understood, Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte is keen to make several high-profile additions ahead of next season, most notably in defensive and midfield areas.

According to Jornal de Noticias, Spurs are considering to make contact with the Portuguese giants regarding a deal for Palhinha.

The Portugal international is being tipped to make the switch to the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers also known to hold a form interest in the 26-year-old playmaker.

It has been suggested that the Lilywhites are at the front of the queue for the Portuguese midfielder, who could be available the region of €40m (£34.1m) once add-ons have been included.
