Newcastle United are reportedly seem ready to try to win the race to sign Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier next month.
The England international has been with Los Rojiblancos since 2019, but he has been fairly frequently linked with a Premier League return.
Manchester United were keen on signing him last summer, but they were put off by Atletico’s demands for the 31-year-old defender.
The Spanish champions were reluctant to lose him for less than his £34m release clause.
According to Telegraph, Newcastle United are now firm favourites to sign the left-back, and a deal could be finalised in the coming weeks.
With just 18 months remaining on his contract, Atletico are open to selling him for at least £25m.
