Leeds Utd to pip Man City, Barca to Espanyol attacker Mateo Joseph Fernandez?

Leeds United are reportedly keen to edge out Manchester City and Barcelona in the race to sign Espanyol starlet Mateo Joseph Fernandez.

The 18-year-old has held positive talks with the Yorkshire giants ahead of a potential move in either January or June 2022, when his contract expires.

According to La Grada, the teenager is preparing to travel to England once his transfer to Elland Road has been finalised.

The Whites were initially not prepared to pay a fee for the starlet, which Espanyol were demanding should they sign him in January, however, the Premier League outfit have since agreed to a fee.

Fernandez is highly regarded as one of their brightest prospects in Spanish football and Leeds United now look to have fended off competition from both City and Barca to land the Espanyol sensation.
