Barcelona have reportedly placed emphasis on signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.
The Blaugrana are said to be keen to bolster their midfield options next year, having failed to sign Georginio Wijnaldum over the summer, with the Dutchman joining Paris Saint-Germain from Liverpool.
The Catalan giants are believed to be keen on AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie but could miss out on a deal for the 24-year-old due to his stellar club form throughout the 2020-21 season has earned him links with some of Europe’s biggest names.
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Barcelona have now set their sights on Zakaria, who could leave the German outfit on a free transfer next June.
As it stands, Zakaria would be free to enter into discussions with foreign clubs at the beginning of 2022, and it is expected that he will not be signing a new deal at Monchengladbach.
The Switzerland international has scored two goals and registered one assist in five Bundesliga appearances this season.
