Manchester City still confident of signing Lionel Messi
Manchester City reportedly remain undeterred in their efforts to sign Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
The 33-year-old’s future remains uncertain as his contract at Camp Nou is due to expire this summer.
The Argentina international has enjoyed an impressive 2020-21 campaign for Barca, contributing 24 goals and nine assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.
A recent report suggested that the six-time Ballon d’Or winger was open to the possibility of signing a new deal with the Catalan giants depending on the result of the club’s presidential elections.
The Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have also been strongly linked with the Argentine, but according to The Mirror, Manchester City still believe that they are at the head of the queue if the attacker decides to leave Ronald Koeman’s side.
City are also allegedly determined to sign Erling Braut Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
