West Ham United lead race to sign John Stones
West Ham United have reportedly entered pole position in the race to complete a deal for Manchester City centre-back John Stones during this summer’s transfer window.
The 26-year-old defender is widely expected to leave the Etihad Stadium ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, and the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal have both been credited with an interest.
However, according to The Sun, West Ham have taken the lead in the race to sign the England international, who could be available for as little as £20million in the summer market.
The central defender has only made 16 Premier League appearances for City during the 2019-20 campaign.
The Englishman will see his contract at the Etihad Stadium expire at the end of 2021-22 season.
Stones joined City from Everton in 2016 and has since gone on to make 133 appearances for the Citizens.
