Arsenal eye loan bid for Mykola Matviyenko?

Arsenal have reportedly submitted a loan bid for Shakhtar Donetsk centre-back Mykola Matviyenko.

With Calum Chambers having been ruled out until the rest of the season with a knee injury, the Gunners are targeting a fresh face for their backline before the end of this month.

The north London outfit have been constantly linked with Matviyenko throughout this week as Mikel Arteta looks to fix the defensive crisis.

According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal want to secure the services of the Ukraine international on a temporary basis, ahead of a £30million permanent deal in the summer.

The 23-year-old, who has 18 months left on his contract, is said to be interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Matviyenko has scored four goals in 73 appearances across all competitions over the past five years.
