Lazio one step closer to sign Fernando Llorente?

The Italian outfit Lazio are reportedly on the verge of signing former Tottenham Hotspur forward Fernando Llorente on a free transfer.

Despite being impressive during the second half of the last season, the 34-year-old was allowed to leave Spurs at the end of his two-year contract earlier this summer.

The Spanish striker has been linked with a number of clubs in his homeland and in Serie A, where he has previously played for Juventus.

However, according to Corriere dello Sport, Llorente has been holding talks with Biancocelesti ahead of a move to Stadio Olimpico.

The report suggests that negotiations between two parties have been taking place for a number of days ahead of a potential move later this week.

The Spaniard scored 23 goals in 66 outings in Italy top-flight during his spell with Juventus between 2013 and 2015.
