David Luiz signs up for Arsenal

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Chelsea centre-back David Luiz.

Despite having signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge, reports emerged earlier this week that the Brazilian had expressed a desire to make the switch across London.

With that said, a fee of £8m was agreed, while there was a suggestion that the 32-year-old defender would pen a two-year contract.

Few hours after the transfer window shut on Thursday, the Gunners confirmed that they had brought in the Brazil international on a permanent basis.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery, who worked with Luiz at PSG, told the club’s official website: “David has huge experience and I look forward to working with him again. He is a well known player and adds to our defensive strength.”

Luiz racked up 105 appearances for the Blues in all competitions across the last three campaigns.
