Chelsea not sure about signing Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal

Chelsea FC aren’t convinced about signing Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal this summer, according to a report in England

Chelsea FC are having “second thoughts” about making Mateo Kovavic’s move to Stamford Bridge permanent, according to a report in England.

The Evening Standard is reporting that the Europa League winners have the option to sign the Real Madrid midfielder this summer following his season-long loan move to west London.

The same article states that Maurizio Sarri’s anticipated appointment as the new Juventus manager has cast doubt on Kovavic’s move to Chelsea FC this summer.

According to the same story, Chelsea FC weren’t overly impressed with the Croatian midfielder’s performances throughout the 2018-19 Premier League season.

The Evening Standard report goes on to suggest that Tiemoue Bakayoko or Mason Mount could be preferred in a midfield role ahead of Kovacic next term.

The World Cup runner-up failed to get on the score-sheet in the Premier League but he did make two assists in 32 appearances in the Premier League.

Kovacic did receive some plaudits for his performance in Chelsea FC’s 4-1 victory over Arsenal in the Europa League final in Baku last month.

Chelsea FC finished in third place in Sarri’s first season in charge to secure a return to the Champions League after a 12-month absence.

The Blues announced a deal to sell Eden Hazard to Real Madrid last week to end the Belgian’s seven-year stint at Stamford Bridge.
